BREAKING NEWS (8/7/09) - Howard Schnellenberger, head football coach at Florida Atlantic University, will be a guest with Jon Moncrief on The Sunday Tailgate this coming weekend. The show can be heard on the Sports Journey Broadcast Network.
Schnellenberger is scheduled to appear on the show at 12:25PM EST to talk about the upcoming Owls season, as they look to take the title in the Sun Belt Conference and make a third consecutive bowl appearance.
Perhaps best known for his years rebuilding the Miami Hurricanes football program and winning the 1983 National Championship by upsetting then undefeated and top ranked Nebraska in the '84 Orange Bowl, Schnellenberger has won 48 games in eight season at FAU. At least one player that Schnellenberger has recruited or coached has played in the Super Bowl in each of the last 12 seasons. Some of the elite players he has been associated with include: Jim Kelly, Bruce Armstrong, Jerome Brown, Michael Irvin, Bernie Kosar, and Vinnie Testaverde, just to name a few.
