SHOW ALERT: Status is now 'On Hiatus'

If you've been looking for our radio show the last couple of weeks, let me first of all thank you for wanting to listen to the show and secondly apologize for not being there to provide that programming for you.

Due to financial issues (which I will speak out on my personal blog) I have been unable to continue financing the show myself in terms of a location to host the show from and also to pay for the time on the network itself.

As a result, we are currently 'On Hiatus' until my financial situation resolves itself. I have been given assurances that the resolution to my situation is set to be completed imminently. Until it does, I cannot do the show.

My hope is to jump on with new shows as of Sunday September 20th. Please check here for more updates, and thanks so much for your support.

By the way, if you or someone you know wants to talk about advertising opportunities geared towards helping me get back 'on-the-air', please feel free to contact me via e-mail at this address: moncriefinthemorning@gmail.com

Sunday Tailgate is on the air!

Hey there everyone, welcome to the home blog page for the brand new Sunday morning sports-talk show The Sunday Tailgate. Every Sunday morning from 10AM to 1PM Eastern Time, 7-10AM here in Los Angeles, The Sunday Tailgate is the last word before your Sunday sports action begins. You can hear the show live on the Sports Journey Broadcast Network.

I'm your show host, Jon Moncrief.

I currently cover the Los Angeles Kings for Examiner.com. I've been working in a variety of positions in the sports media and entertainment business for almost ten years now. I'm really looking forward to hosting not only this show on the network, but also Moncrief in the Morning, which airs on SJBN every weekday morning from 9AM to noon Eastern Time. We're going to provide some great sports content on a variety of subjects. And I've got a great team spanning both shows helping me out.

Let me take a moment to introduce you to the main Sunday Tailgate crew:

Ray Manukay, Sunday Tailgate co-host

Ray has been a passionate sports fan his whole life, and that passion pours out every time he states an opinion. He spent two years as a senior sports content provider for Mahalo.com, the world’s first human-powered search engine. Ray writes about a variety of sports topics on his blog page, Ray’s Lucky 13. A graduate of Chapman College and a member of the Screen Actors Guild, he received several meritorious achievement awards from the American College Theater Festival. A lifelong fan of both the Angels and the Lakers, Ray lives with his wife and two children in Encino.

Amanda Salas, Scoreboard update anchor

Amanda previously was the host/field reporter for "The Juice" on The Orange Country Register's website. She is also the 2009 on-camera host for “Wheels TV” and serves as the on-camera host/producer for the 2009 RKC videos for Dragon Door Publications. Her passion for the Yankees and sports is on display every Sunday morning.

Christopher Kerr, NFL correspondent and associate producer

Christopher bring s a wealth of sports knowledge to the show, and he will provide mostly content dealing with the National Football League. But this native Bostonian will not be shy about his commentary on any sports-related matter.

To see our other correspondents, check out our welcome posting on the Moncrief in the Morning blogsite by clicking here.

In the weeks to come, we'll be adding ways to get you involved in the show by: sending us e-mails of comments and questions; the ability to join a chat room with other listeners live during the show; and more.

Last week was our first episode, and although we had a few technical issues with our sound (primarily with music), we did have three great interview segments. Lake Lewis, host of the Sports Journey radio show on SJBN; Paula Duffy, national sports columnist for Examiner.com; and Tina Cervasio, New York Knicks sideline reporter for MSG Network. You can hear that episode by clicking here.

So thanks for joining us and making us part of your Sunday sports day experience.

Episode 2 - August 9, 2009

Greetings, and welcome to the blog spot for The Sunday Tailgate. Our show made it's debut last week on the Sports Journey Broadcast Network, and we are excited about this week's show, and all others moving forward.

Here is the rundown of guests that are scheduled to appear on the program this Sunday morning. Our featured guest this week is:

Jim Fox, television game analyst for the Los Angeles Kings. We'll be talking about the Kings' moves so far this off-season, and about his role in the upcoming LA Kings Hockey Fest '09, a fan festival being held here in Los Angeles from August 28-30.

Jim is about to begin his 20th season, paired with legendary play-by-play man Bob Miller, as the game analyst for the Kings, and he will joined during the Hockey Fest by Kelly Hrudey of Hockey Night in Canada and Ray Ferraro from NHL on TSN during a broadcasters panel, hosted by ESPN's John Buccigross.

We'll start the show with the latest from race tracks as Bradley Weber, Sunday Tailgate auto racing correspondent, makes his debut. Also making his debut this weekend is A.J. Smith our NBA correspondent.

Also, we begin a joint venture between our show and our companion show, Moncrief in the Morning, as we preview all 120 FBS college football teams. Today, we kick it off with these schools:

- Arkansas State, previewed by Kevin Turbeville of the Jonesboro Sun
- Florida International, previewed by Pete Pelegrin of the Miami Herald
- Temple, previewed by Todd Orodenker of Examiner.com

In addition, we'll also be talking about the pigskin with Christopher Kerr, our NFL correspondent, and with Chris Griffin, our new college football correspondent. Plus, Amanda Salas provides scoreboard updates every 20 minutes.

I hope you'll join this Sunday morning from 10AM-1PM Eastern, 7-10AM Pacific, live on the Sports Journey Broadcast Network.
